STEAK & CHEESE

@STEAK &CHEESE@

I went pretty simple and classic with my Steak & Cheese footlong: just steak, provolone cheese, red onions, and green bell peppers toasted on Jalapeno Cheese bread. Jalapeno Cheese bread is not on the national Subway menu so your local Subway may or may not serve it.

Subway steak, like all their meats, is pre-cooked and resembles a chopped moist beef jerky in appearance. Their are two scoops of steak per Steak & Cheese. I believe you get four scoops (i.e double meat) with the Big Philly Cheesesteak. Tastewise, while it's not juicy, it's well-seasoned and tender enough to not be chewy.

The provolone is quite mild and while nicely melted, I found myself wishing for more cheese as I ate the sandwich. The veggies were plentiful and I was pleased to get a good taste of bell pepper and onion.

COLD CUT COMBO

@COLD CUT COMBO@

>Subway's Cold Cut Combo has always been the value sandwich at Subway for as long as I  can remember, even before $5 Footlongs. It comes with a combination of three deli meats:  ham, salami, and bologna plus your choice of cheese, veggies, condiments, and bread.

>It might say ham, salami, and bologna but it tastes mostly like baloney... er bologna (does  anyone not trying to sell it call it "bologna?"). Now I don't mind the taste of baloney but I  associate it with cheap eating which is appropriate since the Cold Cut Combo is very much  cheap eats.

ITALIAN BMT

@ ITALIAN BMT @

>Subway's menu states: "Italian B.M.T.® -- Sliced Genoa salami, pepperoni and ham and  your choice of fresh vegetables and condiments served on freshly baked bread. Some say  BMT stands for biggest, meatiest, tastiest."

>To this, I like provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, banana (yellow) peppers, green bell  peppers, red onions, oil & vinegar, and jalapenos are a personal must.

ITALIAN HERO

@ ITALIAN HERO @
> Subway launch june 2016 new Italian Hero is something they're offering here in Southern California. It comes with a combination of mortadella, capicola, and Genoa salami.
>The suggested build was with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, olive oil, provolone, and red wine vinegar. I went without the pickles and they didn't have red wine vinegar
>The mortadella and capicola are new to the menu, while the Genoa salami is always available. Subway's mortadella was a lot like bologna in taste and texture except with extra cubes of fat/lard for an added richness. The capicola was the more flavorful of the two with a nice seasoned flavor and a light heat
>I saved half of the sandwich for later and it seemed to do much better after marinated in the olive oil and vinaigrette for a bit. The flavors opened up quite a bit in both the veggies and the meat and no longer a tasteless mass of texture. The onions had more of a bite, the meats felt more seasoned and salty, and the tomatoes tasted more tangy. The cheese was hard to make out in either half (partially because there was only four small halves spread across the footlong.

 > Place  6  slices  of  Capicola  on  the  top  half  of  the  bread                                                        > Place  4  slices  of  Mortadella  on  top  of  the  Capicola                                                              > Place  10  slices  of  Salami  on  top  of  the  Mortadella                                                                >LOCAL BILLBOARDS Throughout  the  Window  your    market                                                         will  display  outdoor billboards featuring the new Italian Hero                                                       sandwich. CARVED TURKEY & BACON

@ CARVED TURKEY & BACON @
> Subway Resturant launch May 2016 new premium carved turkey
> Carved Turkey sub features thick-cut, white-meat carved turkey with your choice of    veggies, cheese, and bread.
> I bought a Footlong for $8.25 (It's $5.25 for a 6-inch).
> I had them make my sub pretty close to the promotion pictures with spinach, tomato,  onion, white American cheese, and mayo on Italian bread.
> Overall, Subway's Carved Turkey Sub was pretty solid. They turkey would be perfectly at      home with some stuffing and gravy and it didn't feel like they were skimping on the meat  like it sometimes does at Subway. It would also go well with pesto.
